Arrested, Handcuffed Vermilion Parish Teacher Back At Work

The Vermilion Parish school teacher who was arrested and handcuffed Monday night at a school board meeting is back at work and speaking out.

Deyshia Hargrave was ordered removed from the meeting while challenging a $30,000 pay raise being given to the district's superintendent while teachers and others have not received increases.

In a video released yesterday, Hargrave said that "by silencing my voice" the school board had taken away her 1st Amendment rights.

A number of teachers' unions are expected to rally today in Abbeville in support of Hargrave.
