Governor John Bel Edwards is continuing to warn of the huge fiscal cliff Louisiana is facing if the legislature fails to act.
In an op-ed piece published over the weekend, he notes his plans to unveil a proposed balanced budget this week that will erase the $1 billion shortfall in revenue projected for July 1st with state general fund cuts. That's on top of $600 million in cuts he's made since being elected.
Edwards blames the red-ink problem on temporary revenue measures adopted two years ago, instead of permanent ones that would have reformed the state's tax code.
