Toys "R" Us plans to close about 180 stores, including a location in Slidell, as it tries to work its way back from bankruptcy.
The store, located on Northshore Blvd., is the only one in Louisiana on the closure list.
The company filed court documents Monday announcing its plans to close underperforming stores. The move will cut about 20% of the company's stores. The company says it might be able to avoid some closings if it can negotiate better lease terms.
The retailer also plans to combine Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores in a number of locations.
Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy protection last September.
