New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn left Achilles tendon in Friday night's 115-113 win over Houston.

Cousins was hurt in the game's final minute and had to be helped off the court.  He was unable to put any pressure on his left ankle.

An MRI confirmed the injury.

"Boogie" was recently voted a starter in the NBA All-Star Game and was selected by team captain LeBron James.  NBA commissioner Adam Silver will name his replacement.

The 27-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent following this season.
