Ahead of getting into the nitty-gritty of his first State of the Union address last night, President Trump lauded Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana for his toughness as a public servant.
Trump called Scalise "a legend" after returning to work just over three months after nearly being killed by a gunman at a congressional baseball practice.
Others receiving praise from Trump were Cajun Navy 2016 founder Jon Bridgers and his group for helping hurricane victims, and Coast Guard Petty Officer Ashlee Leppter from Air Station New Orleans, who helped save more than 40 lives in Houston during Hurricane Harvey.
