LSU To Hire Former Gators OC Nussmeier As Analyst

LSU is bringing in former Florida assistant coach Doug Nussmeier as an offensive analyst, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

Nussmeier is joining the Tigers after spending the past three seasons as offensive coordinator at SEC rival Florida. The Baton Rouge Advocate confirmed the move, citing a source.

Part of the purge at Florida last season that included the firing of head coach Jim McElwain, Nussmeier was dismissed in late November after the Gators named Dan Mullen as the school's new head coach.

Nussmeier spent one season at Michigan before he was hired by Florida, and was the offensive coordinator at Alabama under Nick Saban in 2012 and 2013. The Crimson Tide won the national championship in his first season.

A former NFL quarterback, Nussmeier spent two seasons (2006-07) as quarterbacks coach of the St. Louis Rams. He then returned to college, serving as offensive coordinator at Fresno State and Washington before landing at Alabama.
