Louisiana is coming up way short in the various measurements used by U.S. News & World Report to rank the best states in the nation. In fact, for the second year in a row, the Pelican State is ranked 50th overall, and close to dead last in every individual category, including health care, education and infrastructure. Neighboring Mississippi is ranked 49th, with Iowa ranked as the best state to live in.
