Father Won't Be Prosecuted For Child's Death

A Metairie man whose infant daughter, Claire, died in a hot car last August won't be prosecuted.  Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick issued a statement yesterday calling what transpired "a very tragic event."  He says a thorough review of the evidence led to the conclusion that it would be fair and just not to prosecute Sheng Li.  He had intended to drop off the eleven-month-old at daycare while heading to work, but forgot to and tragically left her behind in the vehicle for hours.
