Corps Of Engineers To Open Bonnet Carre' Spillway (VIDEO)

(WVUE/FOX 8) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District held a press conference Monday to announce that the Mississippi River high water event will result in the operation of the Bonnet Carré Spillway.

"The forecast indicates the river will get up to that 1.2 million cubic feet per second," said Matt Roe with the Army Corps of Engineers. That's the magic number for the Corps to open the spillway.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have decided to open the Bonnet Carré Spillway Thursday at 10:00 a.m. They will operate the spillway for roughly three weeks.
