Special Session On Budget Ends With Nothing Resolved

State lawmakers are returning home after ending a special session on the budget two days early and resolving nothing.

The legislature folded its tent Monday, making no progress at finding a way to keep the next fiscal year spending plan from drowning in red ink.

As projected now, there will be a $700 million shortfall in revenue because of temporary tax measures that expire on June 30th.
