The conviction and 40-year sentence handed a former Marksville police officer for a deadly shooting in 2015 remains in place.

The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal has found no merit to five errors the defense claimed were made during the trial of Derrick Stafford.

He and another officer opened fire when a vehicle they were pursuing stopped.

Stafford was found guilty of manslaughter in the killing of six-year-old Christopher Few and attempted manslaughter in the wounding of the boy's father.
