A poll conducted by the University of New Orleans Research Center (PDF) shows John Fortunato leading Joe Lopinto by 16 points in the race for Jefferson Parish sheriff.
The poll was commissioned by WDSU-TV and conducted last week. Of those surveyed, 20 percent were undecided.
Lopinto is the current interim sheriff, while Fortunato is the agency's former spokesman.
Early voting for the March 24th election begins tomorrow.
