LaPlace Woman Charged In Fatal Hot Oil Attack

A LaPlace woman is now charged with second-degree murder after the death of a victim injured when a pot of hot oil was poured on her.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office says that 56-year-old Stacy Sylvester had argued with 50-year-old Alena Populis in late February and the following day attacked her. She died last week.

Sylvester was originally charged with aggravated second-degree battery.
