Governor John Bel Edwards says he's not on board with those who favor arming teachers in Louisiana.
Such proposals have come up in many states following the mass shooting that left 17 dead at a Parkland, Florida high school.
He told reporters at a Thursday afternoon news conference that he'd prefer the focus be on having an adequate number of properly trained school resource officers to deal with acts of violence.
