A human milk bank is now open in New Orleans.
NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reports the Mother's Milk Bank of Louisiana is the first in the state to help premature babies get the nutrients they need.
The facility at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center screens all potential donors and pasteurizes and cultures donated breast milk to make it safe for the infants.
Doctors say human milk could even mean shorter hospital stays for preemies.
