The second most-populated parish in Louisiana is set to elect a new sheriff on Saturday.
Residents have a choice between Interim-Sheriff Joseph Lopinto and John Fortunato, a retired colonel from the department.
Both have exchanged heated barbs related to their experience on the force.
A poll released Thursday by the University of New Orleans shows Lopinto with a three-point lead, a dramatic turnaround from a UNO survey earlier this month that gave Fortunato a double-digit lead.
