A Louisiana weather forecaster will be in charge of the National Hurricane Center in Miami effective April 1st.
NOAA announced Thursday that it has selected Kenneth Graham to serve as director of the center.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be selected to work alongside the talented and dedicated employees of the National Hurricane Center,” said Graham. "This is an exciting time to work for the National Weather Service, and I look forward to the important work ahead in an effort to keep our communities safe from the various threats posed by hurricanes.”
Since 2008, Graham has been the meteorologist-in-charge of the National Weather Service's New Orleans/Baton Rouge office. He's credited with establishing two command centers that provided forecasts following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010.
