Edwards "Disappointed" By Minimum Wage, Equal Pay Votes

Louisiana State Capitol

Governor John Bel Edwards is expressing disappointment with the Louisiana Senate after it voted Tuesday against minimum wage and equal pay legislation.

Senators shot down proposals to approve a bill that would've hiked the state's minimum wage to $8.50 an hour. They also rejected legislation to require equal pay by businesses awarded state contracts.

The governor says the state "should be offended" that its wage gap is the nation's largest.
