A high-speed chase that came after numerous vehicle burglaries led to a man being killed and a sheriff's deputy being wounded.
That's what Sheriff Randy Smith said yesterday as he provided more details of the Sunday incident that killed Joseph Johnson and wounded St. Tammany Sheriff's Office Deputy Justin Nail.
A stolen gun was also involved and Johnson was determined to have been using a stolen vehicle during the chase. Johnson suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner.
