A Louisiana state senator is introducing a bill that would lower the drinking age for some.

Democratic Senator Eric LaFleur wants to make it legal for 19 and 20-year-olds to buy and consume alcohol. They would only be allowed to do so after receiving a certificate. Students Against Destructive Decisions and Mothers Against Drunk Driving are already speaking out against it.

The bill will get its first hearing at the state capitol today in Senate committee.
