While it'll be late May or early June before state lawmakers can return to working on the next state budget, some of them are already addressing the matter.
The Advocate reports the Senate Finance Committee met yesterday and will meet again today. The House Appropriations Committee continues with its slate of hearings on state agency spending.
The governor and legislative leaders are hoping for an early end to the regular session so lawmakers can begin yet another special session to deal with an expected massive budget deficit beginning July 1st.
