Teachers in Jefferson Parish will be getting some more money. However, it's not a raise in pay, but rather a stipend.
They will be eligible to receive a one-time payment of $2,000 if they complete a three-part safety training program.
The school board also approved a resolution Tuesday to consider placing a property tax issue before voters to increase teacher pay that is said to be the lowest in the eight surrounding parishes.
