Louisiana is getting a new Commissioner of Higher Education.
The Board of Regents Wednesday selected Kim Hunter Reed, a native of Lake Charles, for the post. She's currently the executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
Reed, the first African-American to oversee the state's colleges and universities, will take over for Joseph Rallo, who is set to exit the commissioners post in early June.
