The Coast Guard says that 2,600 gallons of heavy fuel oil has spilled into the Mississippi River from chemical tanker near Norco.

The spill is reported to be secure as the Coast Guard is overseeing the cleanup work.

The oil spill came from a foreign-flagged ship called Iver Exporter, which is currently being docked at the Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex.

The cause of the spill is still under investigation. No injuries or wildlife impacts have been reported.
