State lawmakers appear to be no closer to fixing Louisiana's budget than they were weeks and months ago.
Well aware that expiring taxes will leave the state more than $600 million in the hole come July 1, senators and representatives need a plan to resolve the problem.
The House narrowly approved a budget last week that, among other things, cuts funding to healthcare and TOPS.
The head of the Senate Finance Committee says there's no way he'll ever vote for it, with the governor asking lawmakers to hold off approving a budget until he calls a special session.
