Termites Swarm New Orleans

As spring is in the air in New Orleans, so are termites.

Swarms of the small flying creatures zipped all across Metro New Orleans last night seeking to mate. The bugs were introduced to the United States after World War Two, and have destroyed numerous buildings in the city over time.

The cinnamon-colored bugs stay within approximately 300 yards of their nest.

Experts say to turn off lights around dusk to avoid attracting termites to your house, as they are attracted to light and normally swarm when the sun is nearly set.
