It's a costly holiday weekend for travelers in New Orleans, across the state and most anywhere in the nation.
In the Crescent City area, AAA reports the average price of regular is hovering near the $2.63 a gallon mark, up about four cents from last Monday and 50 cents higher compared to a year ago.
The statewide average price is $2.67, while it's about 30 cents more per gallon nationwide.
