Law enforcement officials are reminding boaters to stay safe on the water as summer has unofficially started.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith wants boaters to remember the same laws that apply on land apply on water. This is especially true of drinking and driving.
Officers also are reminding people to be aware of no-wake zones and ensure there are enough life jackets for everyone on the boat.
First responders are asking folks not to jump or dive into water where you cannot see the bottom.
