The jury is still out on the economic benefit to New Orleans hosting the 2024 Super Bowl.

While it's certainly a marquee event for the Big Easy, The Lens reports there are costs to the city and its taxpayers for the privilege.

Among them, the city will be providing 24 police officers at no cost each day and night to protect the teams and the NFL headquarters hotel and free shuttles to the attractions and games.

In addition, local governments will have to pony up $800,000 in local tax refunds to the NFL and two Super Bowl teams.
