Cantrell Names Next Director Of Public Safety, Homeland Security

Colonel Terry Ebbert will be in charge of public safety and homeland security as Mayor LaToya Cantrell has named him the city's newest director.

Ebbert is a retired Marine who will be in charge of overseeing multiple public safety agencies, along with holding the position as the director of public safety and homeland security. He will also be working with New Orleans EMS and Fire Department to coordinate the city's response during a major event.

Ebbert coordinated local, state and federal responses for the city after Hurricane Katrina as the previous director of homeland security from 2003 to 2008.
