Plans for a 55-home subdivision are being negotiated for an area of land along Strain Road near Mandeville.
Black Oak Holdings LLC is under contract to buy the land but had a zoning proposal to build an apartment complex on the plot was voted down by the St. Tammany Parish Zoning Commission.
Instead of seeking an override, they asked to amend the zoning request to allow for single family homes but no apartments.
The council approved the amendment, stating they feel it would be a better fit for the area.
