Hundreds of badly damaged and destroyed boat slips at Municipal Yacht Harbor are finally being repaired. 13 years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, FEMA has finally agreed on $24 million to be allocated to the project.
Renovations will bring new floating docks which are expected to better withstand storms, and berths quipped to handle larger boats.
The city will also be making upgrades on Breakwater Drive, and officials are anticipating the project will be completed by next summer.
