While the state has yet to report any human cases this year of West Nile virus, more and more mosquitoes are being found that carry the sometimes fatal disease.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says testing has found mosquitoes on Orleans Parish that have tested positive for the virus. They've also been found in St. John, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes.
Abatement efforts are underway and residents are advised to protect themselves and remove any standing water on their property.
