Governor Not Pulling Guard Troops From Border Duty

A small group of Louisiana National Guard members will continue to assist efforts to control illegal border crossings from Mexico into Texas.

Governor John Bel Edwards said he decided to keep the three-person team and a helicopter there despite his objection to children being separated from the parents of illegal immigrants.

President Trump issued an executive order Wednesday ending the practice.

Edwards called that practice "ill conceived," but says the guard members were not in any way involved with the separation of families.
