It likely isn't all that noticeable, but you are shelling out less money for your purchases in Louisiana, at least when it comes to the state sales tax portion.
The tax rate fell to 4.45% effective Sunday as the result of last week's legislative action. The previous rate was five percent, but one percent of that was temporary and expired on Saturday.
The legislature extended a fraction of it as a way to offset red-ink in the new fiscal year budget.
