Authorities at the Audubon Zoo say the animal death toll resulting from the escape of a Jaguar from its enclosure Saturday now stands at nine.

Five alpaca, three foxes and an emu have died as a result of injuries suffered when the jaguar escaped from its enclosure.

No human injuries were reported.

Zoo officials say the escape was not a result of an error by the jaguar's keeper. The enclosure's roof was compromised and the jaguar was captured an hour after it escaped.
