Health officials in Louisiana and several other states are warning people against eating crab meat from Venezuela.

The fresh crab meat is carrying bacteria which has infected at least 12 people in Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. The crab meat may be labeled as pre-cooked.

Officials with the CDC and the FDA are advising people to ask restaurants and grocery stores where their crab meat is from before buying it.
