A meeting will be held this evening at Dillard University to provide a quarterly report to the public on the progress being made to improve conditions at the Orleans Parish Jail.

The sheriff's office entered into a federal consent decree five years ago to address the problems at the lockup after conditions at the jail were deemed unconstitutional by the Department of Justice.

Jail operations have continued to stir up controversy, with six inmates dying while in custody last year alone.
