The New Orleans Sewage & Water Board is continuing to struggle financially because of delinquent bill payers.

Many customers have disputed what they are said to owe following problems with new billing software rolled out months ago.

At a Public Works Meeting Tuesday, a half-dozen city council members urged the board not to cut off the water to those late paying their bills, a number currently totaling about 17,000 customers.

It was announced earlier that the shutoffs would begin August 1st.
