Kenner Police say a 22-year-old mother allegedly left her 3-year-old and 11-month old inside a car for over an hour and a half Sunday afternoon.
A call to 911 said the two small children were found locked inside the car with the windows up in the parking lot of a shopping strip at 2500 Williams Blvd. The 911 caller and others were able to get the kids out of the car when Shawnise Sherman arrived and got into a fight with the 911 caller once she learned police were summonded.
It was later determined that Sherman arrived at the shopping center shortly after Noon and that the kids had been locked in the car for nearly an hour and a half. Kenner Police note the temperature at the time was 91 degrees and it felt like 99 degrees.
Sherman is charged with child desertion and simple battery.
