Efforts continue to determine exactly what the so-called "strong odor" was that caused a New Orleans-bound Alaska Airlines flight to be diverted.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the plane took off Sunday afternoon from San Francisco International Airport with 136 people on board when the odor was detected in the aft cabin.

The plane was diverted to LAX where it landed safely and an inspection was undertaken to determine exactly where the smell was coming from.
