Former St. Tammany Sheriff's Deputy Pleads Guilty

Former St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputy Kenneth Szalajeski is pleading guilty to malfeasance and drug distribution charges.

The 36-year-old allegedly seized marijuana from citizens while acting as a deputy and gave it to other people between May and October of 2016.

He was sentenced to a year in prison by a state judge this morning in Covington and must surrender to authorities by Friday night at 5:00.

Szalajeski will spend time in prison and must serve three years of probation following his release.
