A new shelter for homeless women and children is coming to the site of the old Crescent Palms Motel on Martin Luther King Boulevard. It's set to open next month.
Volunteers with the group Hotel Hope were out at the site over the weekend working to ensure the property can properly provide housing for more than 20 people in need.
The $1.4 million purchase of the motel came after a donation was made to Hotel Hope by a private donor named Phyllis M. Taylor.
