(FOX 8) Wednesday marks 13 years since Hurricane Katrina devastated Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
There will be several events to commemorate the lives lost.
At 8:30 a.m., New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell held a wreath laying ceremony at the Hurricane Katrina Memorial.
In St. Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis and the parish council will hold a ceremony at the Katrina Monument in Shell Beach at 11:30 a.m.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant will speak with emergency officials from Gulfport at 1:00 p.m. to discuss hurricane season preparations.
