Gavel and scales of justice

Louisiana has a new U.S. Attorney.

The U.S. Senate Tuesday confirmed Peter Strasser to the position.  He'll be in charge of prosecuting federal crimes committed in Louisiana's Eastern District, which contains 13 parishes.

Strasser, a retired Navy Captain, used to be the assistant U.S. Attorney in the same district and has also worked at a prominent law firm in New Orleans.
