A lot of folks are getting tired of LSU having a live tiger mascot.
A California-based social media operation that goes by the name Care2 is just short of its goal of gathering 40,000 signatures on a petition seeking to have the newest Mike the Tiger released to a sanctuary.
The effort has been going on for about two weeks.
The group believes Mike VII, who arrived just over a year ago, shouldn't be used as entertainment and should be relocated out of its enclosure and habitat at the Baton Rouge campus.
