MS Police Chief Files Response To Lawsuit In Laplace Man's Death

A new development in a lawsuit brought by the relatives of a LaPlace native killed by a Petal, Mississippi police officer in early June of last year.

The City of Petal and its police chief have filed responses to the legal action brought against them in the shooting of 34-year-old Marc Davis, who was shot to death by an unnamed officer during a confrontation at a two-vehicle crash.

The lawsuit claims Davis' constitutional rights were violated and excessive force was used that resulted in his "wrongful death," though the city in its response says the actions against Davis were reasonable and appropriate under the circumstances.
