2,000 new jobs could be coming to Jefferson Parish.
Parish leaders are backing Hilco Global and T. Park Host, who are interested in purchasing the old Avondale Shipyard. Plans include transforming the area into a cargo facility to move things by boat, rail, and vehicle.
Leaders are in support of giving them a temporary tax break to get the area developed, as it would bring thousands of jobs to the area.
Parish officials say if the deal goes through, it would take up to two years before any development is seen.
