The ongoing problem of sexual assault will be addressed from an investigatory angle as the result of a $1.3 million grant to the LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing.
NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reports the funds will be used to significantly increase the number of certified sexual assault nurse examiners who collect forensic evidence that is used to bring those who commit sexual assaults to justice.
The funding will be used to train 140 nurses as sexual assault examiners who will serve a ten-parish area in Southeast Louisiana.
