FOX 8: Suspect In Metairie SWAT Roll Surrenders

(WVUE/FOX 8) The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deployed their SWAT Team in Metairie Wednesday morning.

According to Public Information Officer Jason Rivarde, the SWAT roll focused on a home in the 4600 block of Meadowdale.

Sheriff Joseph LoPinto said 24-year-old Donovan Melancon was wanted by U.S. Marshals for armed robbery. LoPinto said they used all of the tools at their disposal in an abundance of caution to make the arrest.

“He had made some previous statements that he did not want to go back to jail and when they tracked him back to this location once they confirmed that he was there we activated our swat team,” said LoPinto. “The good news is he came out with his hands up and his now in custody and no force was needed they didn’t have to make any forced entry into the house.”

Melancon surrendered without incident, according to LoPinto.
